What is MisterQ Explorer?
MisterQ Explorer is a light-weight explorer tool for IBM WebSphere MQ queues, channels and messages. It is developed as a plugin for the Eclipse platform.
Where can MisterQ Explorer help me?
With MisterQ Explorer you can
- create multiple queue manager configurations and connections
- browse queues and channels and their properties
- filter and quick-find queues and channels
- browse and investigate messages and their payloads in different formats
- send text files directly to queues
Well, but why should I bother if there are such tools like WMQTool or IBM´s MQExplorer?
Yes, but this tool is well integrated into the Eclipse Platform IDE and if you ever where in need of investigating messages containing serialized Java objects, MisterQ Explorer can help you out.

About the author
Christian Märkle is a technical consultant and software engineer at Cirquent GmbH . He holds a degree in media computer science from Stuttgart Media University . He has several years of industry experience with customers such as BMW AG and MAN AG .
Requirements
- com.ibm.mq.jar - Java Messaging Library for WebSphere MQ 5.3 or 6.x (comes with e. g. the WebSphere MQ Server installation and must be selected in the installation process)
- Eclipse Runtime/SDK 3.3.x or higher
Installation
- [optional] Remove any previous MisterQ Explorer installations from features and plugins directory (prefix de.artotaku.misterq.*).
- Download file and execute it.
- Follow instructions of setup wizard. The target install directory should be the Eclipse home or dropins directory (with plugins and feature directories below.
- Start Eclipse.
Usage
- Ensure that your queue manager configuration allows remote connections via a server connection channel.
- In Eclipse open the MisterQ Explorer perspective.
- Create a new queue manager connection from context menu in queue manager explorer.
- Connect to the queue manager.
